New SCAR Action Group Strengthens International Coordination for Antarctica InSync

The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) has officially established the new SCAR Antarctica InSync Action Group, creating an important coordination platform to strengthen collaboration and exchange across the international Antarctic research community.

The SCAR Antarctica InSync Action Group serves as a bridge between the SCAR research community and Antarctica InSync, ensuring continuous exchange of information and expertise. It channels input from SCAR experts, aligns activities across both communities, and helps avoid duplication by making sure SCAR and Antarctica InSync are aware of each other’s ongoing work and can benefit from it.

In addition, the Action Group supports communication and coordination across scientific disciplines and encourages stronger connections between researchers, programmes, and infrastructures involved in Antarctic and Southern Ocean research activities.

To support this work, the Action Group actively seeks SCAR experts willing to contribute and therefore invites interested individuals to register as active members and share information about related activities within other SCAR groups. In doing so, it strengthens coordination and mutual support across the wider polar research landscape. Experts interested in becoming active members can still register via the SCAR Antarctica InSync AG website until the end of May.
