The Antarctica InSync Science Planning Workshop was held last week at ESA-ESRIN in Frascati, Italy, bringing together over 100 participants representing national Antarctic programs, research institutes, universities, international organizations, and space and governmental agencies.
The workshop provided a collaborative space to review progress across the seven scientific themes of Antarctica InSync, align research priorities, and advance the development of the InSync Science Plan and associated White Papers. The active participation and constructive dialogue throughout the sessions underscored the strong commitment of the international community to integrated, open, and collaborative Antarctic research.
Key outcomes included:
• Consolidation of thematic progress and shared priorities.
• Strengthening of international scientific and logistical networks.
• Agreement on the next steps toward finalizing the White Papers.
As part of the next phase, a follow-up webinar will be held in January to review ongoing progress and coordinate the final steps. Details and registration information will be communicated in the coming weeks.
The Frascati meeting reaffirmed the importance of collective effort to understand and respond to the rapid changes occurring in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean, and to support informed global decision-making.
We extend our sincere thanks to ESA for hosting and supporting this important workshop.
