On July 28-30, 2025, 26 Australian and 55 Japanese Antarctic and Southern Ocean scientists gathered from diverse disciplines convened the 5th Australia-Japan Workshop on Antarctic Science at the National Institute of Polar Research in Tokyo. The purpose was to facilitate discussions on scientific and logistical collaborations in the Antarctic and Southern Ocean for the upcoming five years and beyond. The workshop participants released a Communiqué (available below) on September 16 that included a statement regarding collaboration on the Antarctica InSync project.
